2024 DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
B
ValueA
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Gordon II: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at No. 255 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori slipping to slot 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick 64 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in the 68th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick96
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
A quiet steal in No. 96: Deontae Lawson for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick133
Rnd4
Oronde Gadsden II
They did well to land Oronde Gadsden II in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
The board fumbled Ollie Gordon II all the way to Round 7, Pick 39, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
