Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Texans: B-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Richard Jibunor, 84 picks early at the 188th pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

On value alone, Beebe makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders at pick 42 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick59 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A tidy bit of business in No. 59, where Keon Coleman graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick86 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in slot 86 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick123 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Javon Solomon
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in pick No. 127 leaves running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick152 Rnd5 Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas in Round 5, Pick 16 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick188 Rnd6 Richard Jibunor
They reached a country mile for Richard Jibunor at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick222 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
Nothing to complain about; Garret Greenfield went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jalen Sundell
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Sundell at pick 247 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick256 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones at the 256th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
A tidy little value on Jalen Coker in the 257th pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
