The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and M.J. Devonshire fell into Round 6, Pick 40. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They will need Rogers to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
