Goku122 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B+
ValueB

FutureB
A passer of the future in Maye, and a B+, for the Patriots. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Pearsall.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Darren Waller deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 7th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
They went early on Xavier Worthy in slot 34, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in No. 39 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 68 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick103
Rnd4
Ricky Pearsall
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ricky Pearsall in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick106
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves at pick 106 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Cam Hart
Nothing to complain about; Cam Hart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Value with a capital V on Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 7, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
A reasonable price with a little left over, Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jalen Berger
Taking Jalen Berger in Round 7, Pick 4 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
