Goku122 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
A-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Patriots bet the future on Nix. The board says A-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Muhammad III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
Bottom line, with Bo Nix leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
A tidy little value on Troy Franklin in slot 34, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick46
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They let Chris Braswell come to them and pounced at pick No. 46. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia is a better player than the 68th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick82
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
A quiet steal in pick 82: Caelen Carson for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick103
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
A tidy bit of business in the 103rd pick, where Christian Mahogany graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 3 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick182
Rnd6
Moose Muhammad III
Taking Moose Muhammad III in No. 182 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick224
Rnd7
BJ Mayes
A reasonable price with a little left over, BJ Mayes in No. 224. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
