Templar DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
C+
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. The Browns put a flag in the ground for Will Rogers, 125 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
Stutsman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
If Tetairoa McMillan and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 14 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in pick 33 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the 45th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick67
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick80
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in slot 80 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93
Rnd3
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at Round 3, Pick 29 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103
Rnd4
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick167
Rnd5
Will Lee III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Lee III well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick178
Rnd6
Danny Stutsman
Steal is underselling it; Danny Stutsman at pick 178 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick191
Rnd6
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in pick No. 191 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203
Rnd6
Will Rogers
A wild overpay on Will Rogers in slot 203, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick214
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
A tight end of that caliber at the 214th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick215
Rnd6
Reuben Fatheree II
Value said wait; Reuben Fatheree II in No. 215 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
