Templar DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns

The Browns drew a line under the quarterback search with Milroe: C. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Browns took Will Rogers a full 113 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
That Singleton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Jalen Milroe gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
They reached a country mile for Jalen Milroe at No. 24, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick33
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They reached into another round for JT Tuimoloau, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
Value said wait; Donovan Jackson in pick No. 56 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
A reasonable price with a little left over, Alfred Collins in Round 3, Pick 3. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
They robbed the room for Dylan Sampson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at pick 93 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
They went early on Daylen Everette in slot 103, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick167
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
They barely believed it either: Mason Taylor still on the board at the 167th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick178
Rnd6
Chris Paul Jr.
Taking Chris Paul Jr. in pick No. 178 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick191
Rnd6
Sonny Styles
Circle this one: Sonny Styles at Round 6, Pick 16 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick203
Rnd6
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215
Rnd6
Will Rogers
Will Rogers in pick 215 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick232
Rnd7
Justin Walley
Justin Walley at No. 232 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
