Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers did enough to get by: C+.

The war room fell hard for Luke McCaffrey, and it showed at the 120th overall pick: 45 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.

The Wallace steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

So much rides on Jackson Powers-Johnson that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 20th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at Round 2, Pick 19 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick84 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
They let Xavier Legette come to them and pounced at pick 84. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick120 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at the 120th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick121 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Value with a capital V on Isaac Guerendo in slot 121, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caedan Wallace at the Round 6 slot. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick238 Rnd7 Kenny Logan Jr.
They jumped the gun on Kenny Logan Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
