Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

FutureB-
The Broncos worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Broncos fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
It is not that Hart is a bad player; it is that the Broncos had louder needs to answer first. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
A tidy little value on Xavier Legette in slot 41, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick51
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 51 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. It fills a real need, too.
Pick76
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
A reasonable price with a little left over, Patrick Paul in the 76th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick84
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at pick 84 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They liked Christian Mahogany enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 24. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in the 88th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick90
Rnd3
Cam Hart
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and quarterback to take Cam Hart, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick94
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A conviction pick on Zak Zinter at the 94th overall pick that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick101
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
A reach on Leonard Taylor III in slot 101; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick121
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 121 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick136
Rnd4
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at No. 136 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
They took Tommy Eichenberg at par in Round 5, Pick 9, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick147
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
The board had cheaper options than Sione Vaki at the 147th pick, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick174
Rnd5
AJ Barner
AJ Barner in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick203
Rnd6
Logan Lee
A straight-up fair deal on Logan Lee at pick 203, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at pick 207 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
