Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a B+ to match.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Van Pran pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick18 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In pick No. 18 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
No edge and no loss on Xavier Legette in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 11 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
They paid a round early for Cole Bishop in the 80th pick, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick97 Rnd3 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at the 97th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick122 Rnd4 Brennan Jackson
No drama and no debate, Brennan Jackson went about where he belonged in pick 122. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
