FutureA+
The Falcons won the night they stopped McClellan from sliding. Grade: C-. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Falcons, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
Landing McClellan that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Wiley has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The Michael Jackson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 16th pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick43
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jonah Elliss
Jonah Elliss at Round 2, Pick 25 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick74
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caelen Carson at slot 74 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick81
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
They did well to land Malachi Corley in the 81st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Michael Hall Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the 119th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick126
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A tidy little value on Sataoa Laumea in the 126th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick157
Rnd5
Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson in pick 157 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A premium they did not need to pay, Jared Wiley a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
Nothing to complain about; JD Bertrand went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick241
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in No. 241 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
