FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Falcons and Noel: D+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Falcons shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Noel. Every board in the league had Gadsden II lower, and that gap is the story.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In pick No. 13 they get a bendy edge with upside. A real need, handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at pick 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick46
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at the 46th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68
Rnd3
Landon Jackson
Good price on Landon Jackson in the 68th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Kalen King
Somehow Kalen King was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick73
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Fair-plus on Ja'Lynn Polk, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112
Rnd4
Tory Horton
Tory Horton in slot 112 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132
Rnd4
Ray Davis
No drama and no debate, Ray Davis went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 32. The roster fit checks out.
Pick143
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the 143rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at pick 146 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
They will replay Jonah Monheim at No. 170 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
A conviction pick on Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 6 slot that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick233
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in the 233rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249
Rnd7
Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at pick No. 249 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick253
Rnd7
Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl at Round 7, Pick 33 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
