You can hear the double-takes from here. The Saints took Andre Sam at the Round 7 slot, roughly 61 spots before his name belonged.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
