Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

ValueB

FutureA+
Daniels is the Cardinals' new face under center. Grade: D+. Somebody took the Cardinals to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Reaching for Eboigbe left real value on the table behind him.
Getting Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In No. 5 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick6
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In slot 10 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick23
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson in the 27th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick35
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Fair-plus on Adonai Mitchell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They took Chris Braswell at par in pick 38, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 72 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick78
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
They read the board right and Patrick Paul was the payoff at slot 78. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at the 90th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick93
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 30, where Kris Abrams-Draine graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick106
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany slid further than he should have, and pick No. 106 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick108
Rnd4
Ray Davis
They paid sticker price for Ray Davis in No. 108, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138
Rnd5
Christian Jones
A tidy little value on Christian Jones in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
A reach on Justin Eboigbe in the 140th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick161
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
You do not let a wide receiver like Ainias Smith reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick226
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Garret Greenfield in pick No. 226. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
