Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesD+ FutureA
Larceny in slot 111 lands the Saints a B-, Mukuba and all.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Saints watched Andrew Mukuba slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

The Armstrong pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In pick No. 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
No edge and no loss on Jonah Savaiinaea in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jack Bech
By-the-book stuff, Jack Bech at the 62nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick71 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the 71st pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at Round 3, Pick 29 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
They jumped the gun on Terrance Ferguson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
The board fumbled Andrew Mukuba all the way to No. 111, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kyle McCord at slot 130. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick186 Rnd6 Kyle Monangai
A conviction pick on Kyle Monangai at slot 186 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick254 Rnd7 Andrew Armstrong
They talked themselves into Andrew Armstrong at pick No. 254, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
