Draft Grade — Ravens

Larceny in the Round 5 slot lands the Ravens a B-, Klubnik and all.

You could see the war room lean forward. Cade Klubnik at No. 160 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Lomu lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the 14th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
No drama and no debate, Germie Bernard went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 13. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at No. 80 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115 Rnd4 Skyler Gill-Howard
They jumped the gun on Skyler Gill-Howard, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152 Rnd5 Ted Hurst
They did well to land Ted Hurst in the 152nd pick, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick160 Rnd5 Cade Klubnik
They barely believed it either: Cade Klubnik still on the board at pick 160. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick172 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Antonio Kite
A reach for Antonio Kite in pick No. 173; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick249 Rnd7 Evan Tengesdahl
A big swing on Evan Tengesdahl at the 249th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick252 Rnd7 Duce Chestnut
They liked Duce Chestnut enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 36. A minor need, but a need all the same.
