The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Neal: C. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Devin Neal, the No. 84 name on the board, stolen at Round 5, Pick 34. Call it a C and check back in two years.
Reaching for Cornelius left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
Hit on Mason Graham and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A tidy bit of business in the 34th overall pick, where Nick Emmanwori graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They barely believed it either: Omarion Hampton still on the board at pick 44. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick45
Rnd2
Quinn Ewers
A wild overpay on Quinn Ewers in No. 45, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick65
Rnd3
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at Round 3, Pick 1 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick78
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They will replay Dylan Fairchild at the 78th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick113
Rnd4
Gunnar Helm
The board fumbled Gunnar Helm all the way to pick No. 113, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick115
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton at slot 115 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick166
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at slot 166 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick168
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 168 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick171
Rnd5
Devin Neal
A running back of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177
Rnd6
Ricky White III
A conviction pick on Ricky White III at the 177th pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick191
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at pick 191 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick215
Rnd6
Rod Moore
Rod Moore at the 215th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
