FutureB-
The Seahawks worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Seahawks shredded theirs for Trey Wedig. He came off 73 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The Lawson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In No. 24 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick 50 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at the 82nd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Fannin Jr. still on the board at pick No. 85. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
They robbed the room for Jalen Royals here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick88
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
They read the board right and Andrew Mukuba was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at No. 121 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick124
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in pick No. 124, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick136
Rnd4
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in Round 4, Pick 35 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
Somehow Luke Kandra was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 173rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184
Rnd6
Davison Igbinosun
This one needs a full-page explanation: Davison Igbinosun in the 184th overall pick, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick203
Rnd6
DJ Uiagalelei
They talked themselves into DJ Uiagalelei at slot 203, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210
Rnd6
Trey Wedig
Trey Wedig at pick 210 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
Taking Jackson Hawes in Round 7, Pick 34 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
