Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Shilo Sanders; the 49ers did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at No. 249. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Loveland that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In pick 14 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, even if it was a touch early.
Pick44 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
They will replay Colston Loveland at pick No. 44 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75 Rnd3 Devin Neal
A straight-up fair deal on Devin Neal at the 75th pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 3, Pick 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
A real head-scratcher, Malachi Moore in slot 113 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick117 Rnd4 Logan Brown
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Logan Brown. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138 Rnd4 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at pick 138 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147 Rnd5 Andres Borregales
A premium they did not need to pay, Andres Borregales a notch or two before his time. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick160 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in the 160th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray in slot 174 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
A wild overpay on Desmond Watson in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at pick No. 227 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick239 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
A conviction pick on LaJohntay Wester at No. 239 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Value said wait; Shilo Sanders in the 249th pick says they were not listening. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick252 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
By-the-book stuff, Zeek Biggers at the 252nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
