Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
The Bengals let Morgan fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in slot 49 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Jordan Morgan, the No. 25 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Logue to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In pick 24 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
They will replay Jordan Morgan at the 49th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in Round 2, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick80 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
The board had cheaper options than McKinnley Jackson at the 80th overall pick, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115 Rnd4 DJ James
They paid sticker price for DJ James in No. 115, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick151 Rnd5 Drake Nugent
A reasonable price with a little left over, Drake Nugent in the Round 5 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick173 Rnd5 Frank Gore Jr.
No drama and no debate, Frank Gore Jr. went about where he belonged in slot 173. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell in pick No. 196 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick238 Rnd7 Zion Logue
A premium they did not need to pay, Zion Logue a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick254 Rnd7 Aaron Frost
Aaron Frost in pick 254 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
