They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.

Cooper at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
