Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesD FutureC+
The Cowboys let Davis fall and pounced. Final grade: C+.

The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Isaiah Davis, the No. 184 name on the board, in pick 217.

If Simon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
The board had Kool-Aid McKinstry higher than pick 31, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They did well to land Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 56, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the 58th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick124 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick131 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the 148th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick174 Rnd5 Roger Rosengarten
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roger Rosengarten. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 201 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
The board fumbled Isaiah Davis all the way to the 217th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones at pick No. 230 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick245 Rnd7 Cody Simon
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cody Simon in No. 245, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick246 Rnd7 DeMonte Capehart
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in slot 246 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
