The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Karene Reid, the No. 193 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 41.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. It is not that Sauls is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first.

The Sauls reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
