The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Thornton Jr.: B.

Call it larceny. Dont'e Thornton Jr. sat on the board until the 255th pick, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
