You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Clay Webb in the Round 4 slot.

Getting Ferguson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
