Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Altmyer: A-.

Somebody in pick No. 248 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Luke Altmyer, the No. 212 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 23 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick27 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
A straight-up fair deal on Jake Slaughter at the 40th pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick54 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Olaivavega Ioane at slot 54 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Antonio Williams
A quiet steal in the 70th overall pick: Antonio Williams for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A safety of that caliber at pick 88 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107 Rnd4 C.J. Fite
Fair-plus on C.J. Fite, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Scott at pick No. 109 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Deion Burks
You do not let a wide receiver like Deion Burks reach pick 123 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick140 Rnd5 J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at Round 5, Pick 1 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick145 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in No. 145 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick147 Rnd5 Justin Joly
The board had Justin Joly higher than slot 147, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick210 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
They paid sticker price for Trey Zuhn III in the 210th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248 Rnd7 Luke Altmyer
They robbed the room for Luke Altmyer here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
