Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesD FutureA
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Klubnik: B.

Somebody in slot 106 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Cade Klubnik, the No. 68 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Siereveld reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick26 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 26th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Good price on Jake Slaughter in slot 40, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick55 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They did well to land Elijah Sarratt in Round 2, Pick 23, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick71 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld at pick No. 71 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick86 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy is a better player than the 86th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in No. 106 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jyaire Hill
By-the-book stuff, Jyaire Hill at pick 143 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick145 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No edge and no loss on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in slot 145; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick149 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DeMonte Capehart. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
They went early on Jaren Kanak in pick No. 210, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick243 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
They took Tristan Leigh at par in pick 243, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
