Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Steelers.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Steelers would have aced it. Will Sheppard at the Round 7 slot is 103 spots clear of where he belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Getting Emmanwori where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 21st overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at pick 52 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick83 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Good price on Darien Porter in slot 83, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick122 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick163 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten slipping to Round 5, Pick 24 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
They barely believed it either: Jordan Hancock still on the board at the 225th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Will Sheppard
Will Sheppard at the 231st overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
