Golden49ers DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers. Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Jay Toia. He came off 115 spots early, and the room will hear about it. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Landing Alexander that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the 11th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nic Scourton at the 43rd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
They paid up for Danny Stutsman at pick No. 75 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Wilson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at slot 113 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138
Rnd4
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at Round 4, Pick 36 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
A real head-scratcher, JJ Pegues in pick 147 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Caleb Rogers
Value said wait; Caleb Rogers in the 160th overall pick says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
They paid sticker price for Isaac TeSlaa in pick No. 227, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249
Rnd7
Marcus Yarns
A premium they did not need to pay, Marcus Yarns a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick252
Rnd7
Jay Toia
A wild overpay on Jay Toia in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
