Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Mendoza is the Browns' new face under center. Grade: B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Browns spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wilson III at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 6 they get their quarterback of the future, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They paid sticker price for Olaivavega Ioane in the 41st pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Value with a capital V on Malik Muhammad in pick No. 72, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
The board had cheaper options than Monroe Freeling at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144 Rnd5 CJ Baxter
A straight-up fair deal on CJ Baxter at slot 144, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick146 Rnd5 Sammy Omosigho
No edge and no loss on Sammy Omosigho in the 146th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick148 Rnd5 Eugene Wilson III
Eugene Wilson III at No. 148 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jackson Arnold
Fair-plus on Jackson Arnold, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick242 Rnd7 PJ Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for PJ Williams. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
