Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in pick 239 lands the Texans a B-, Clark and all.

Thirty-one other rooms let De'Corian Clark slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Tupuola-Fetui has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Kalen King
Kalen King in the 53rd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson slipping to pick No. 88 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick121 Rnd4 Junior Colson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Junior Colson in No. 121. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
No edge and no loss on Jaden Hicks in Round 4, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick158 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They reached into another round for Zion Tupuola-Fetui, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick239 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
Taking De'Corian Clark in pick 239 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick242 Rnd7 Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at slot 242 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
