Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B-.

Some picks age like wine; Eyabi Okie-Anoma at Round 7, Pick 22 will need to, sitting 142 spots clear of his grade.

The King pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 27 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They paid a round early for Edgerrin Cooper in the 53rd pick, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick88 Rnd3 Kalen King
Taking Kalen King in Round 3, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
No edge and no loss on Jaden Hicks in pick No. 121; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick127 Rnd4 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They reached into another round for Zion Tupuola-Fetui, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick158 Rnd5 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick239 Rnd7 Blake Watson
A tidy little value on Blake Watson in pick No. 239, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick242 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
They talked themselves into Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
