Jos DRAFTING FOR THECardinals

Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B
ValueB+

TradesB-
FutureB-
Keegan should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a B. Call it larceny. Trevor Keegan sat on the board until pick 226, and the Cardinals did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 4th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In pick No. 27 they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jer'Zhan Newton
They will replay Jer'Zhan Newton at pick 35 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick66
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
Adisa Isaac slid further than he should have, and slot 71 is lovely value for the edge rusher. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in No. 90 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick104
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 104th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138
Rnd5
Jamari Thrash
They read the board right and Jamari Thrash was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 2. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at pick No. 162 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick186
Rnd6
Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick226
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
They robbed the room for Trevor Keegan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
