Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Browns.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Browns would have aced it. Davin Vann at No. 181 is 77 spots clear of where he belonged.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Simpkins III at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 2 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Nic Scourton
They paid sticker price for Nic Scourton in Round 2, Pick 1, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
Value said wait; Quinn Ewers in pick No. 67 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A big swing on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at No. 103, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick165 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in slot 165 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick181 Rnd6 Davin Vann
They reached a country mile for Davin Vann at the 181st overall pick, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 Corey Kiner
Good price on Corey Kiner in pick No. 194, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jermari Harris
A reach on Jermari Harris in Round 6, Pick 24; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216 Rnd6 Teddye Buchanan
They talked themselves into Teddye Buchanan at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick217 Rnd6 Sam Brown
Sam Brown in No. 217 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick257 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III slid further than he should have, and the 257th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
