Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Ravens won the night they stopped Williams from sliding. Grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Ravens were there to profit. James Williams, the No. 124 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 5, Pick 29. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Every board in the league had Clark lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In pick 30 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jermaine Burton
Jermaine Burton at pick No. 62 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick93 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at No. 93 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in the 113th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick130 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
They will replay Caelen Carson at slot 130 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick165 Rnd5 James Williams
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick218 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
Taking M.J. Devonshire in the 218th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick228 Rnd7 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at Round 7, Pick 8 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick250 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
A wild overpay on De'Corian Clark in pick 250, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
