Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Bears walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

Every board in the league had Wiley lower, and that gap is the story. Franklin falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 9th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in slot 75 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Nothing to complain about; Khyree Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at No. 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at Round 5, Pick 10 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
A reach on Jared Wiley in pick No. 186; the board had better options right there. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick232 Rnd7 Zakhari Franklin
The board had Zakhari Franklin higher than pick 232, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
