Draft Grade — Seahawks

The Seahawks let Rourke fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

When a board-topper like Kurtis Rourke slides to the 173rd overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Seahawks did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The cost of the Cooper reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In No. 18 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
No drama and no debate, Barrett Carter went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 18. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
They will replay Elijah Arroyo at slot 92 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick137 Rnd4 Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper in the 137th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
Steal is underselling it; Kurtis Rourke at pick 173 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187 Rnd6 Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in pick No. 187 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick212 Rnd6 Chimere Dike
Chimere Dike slid further than he should have, and the 212th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick236 Rnd7 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in pick No. 236 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
