The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Harris: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Tre Harris had no business being available in slot 226, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
It is not that Moore is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Marvin Harrison Jr. at pick No. 1, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick5
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In slot 5 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick69
Rnd3
Rod Moore
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went defensive back with Rod Moore while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots sat open.
Pick114
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at Round 4, Pick 14 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick132
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in No. 132 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick142
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the 142nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick151
Rnd5
Gabriel Murphy
By-the-book stuff, Gabriel Murphy at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick183
Rnd6
Steve Linton
Steve Linton at pick 183 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick226
Rnd7
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at Round 7, Pick 6 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
