Draft Grade — Colts
Overall

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Colts: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Carson Steele at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 24 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
Spending an early pick on cornerback with wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 15 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
They paid up for Ja'Tavion Sanders at the 46th pick when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick82
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
They paid sticker price for Mike Sainristil in Round 3, Pick 18, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Jarrian Jones in pick No. 117 leaves wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick153
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at the 153rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick193
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in slot 193 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Carson Steele
This one needs a full-page explanation: Carson Steele in the 235th overall pick, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
