Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns left with their quarterback, and a A- to match.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 6 slot. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

Every board in the league had Mesidor lower, and that gap is the story. So much rides on Jaxson Dart that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Adding Amarius Mims by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, with Jaxson Dart leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In the 32nd pick they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
They jumped the gun on Aireontae Ersery, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick49 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
The board fumbled Tyler Warren all the way to No. 49, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick64 Rnd2 Tre Harris
Tre Harris in the 64th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in slot 66, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick No. 67 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick81 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker at pick 81 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
They paid a round early for Jaylin Noel in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick102 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at Round 4, Pick 1. The roster fit checks out.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
They will replay Jared Wilson at the 163rd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick177 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kyle Williams well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick190 Rnd6 Danny Stutsman
A linebacker of that caliber at the 190th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick198 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Upton Stout at pick No. 198 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick214 Rnd6 Justin Walley
They reached into another round for Justin Walley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick215 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
Taking Cam Skattebo in the 215th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Akheem Mesidor
They left a pile of value on the table to take Akheem Mesidor this early at slot 256. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
