Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Browns won the night they stopped Ransom from sliding. Grade: A-.

Call it larceny. Lathan Ransom sat on the board until No. 181, and the Browns did not need to be asked twice.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, with Abdul Carter leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In No. 3 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen is a better player than the 33rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in slot 65 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 67th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Tre Harris
They robbed the room for Tre Harris here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jake Majors
No drama and no debate, Jake Majors went about where he belonged in pick 103. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick181 Rnd6 Lathan Ransom
They will replay Lathan Ransom at Round 6, Pick 3 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick194 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
They took Kyle Williams at par in pick 194, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They liked Jamon Dumas-Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 202nd pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick216 Rnd6 Cobee Bryant
Steal is underselling it; Cobee Bryant at Round 6, Pick 38 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick217 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257 Rnd7 Quinn Carroll
They jumped the gun on Quinn Carroll, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
