Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Browns left with their quarterback, and a B+ to match.

Start where it matters. The Browns took Cam Ward to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They banked enough surplus on Alexander to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
Cam Ward at slot 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67 Rnd3 Bradyn Swinson
Nothing to complain about; Bradyn Swinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
They barely believed it either: Quinshon Judkins still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 104 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179 Rnd6 Darius Alexander
Taking Darius Alexander in No. 179 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
The board fumbled Dont'e Thornton Jr. all the way to the 192nd overall pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick200 Rnd6 Dorian Strong
Circle this one: Dorian Strong at Round 6, Pick 24 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
They robbed the room for Jaylen Reed here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Nice patience on Teddye Buchanan, who had no business lasting to the 245th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick254 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Steal is underselling it; Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
