Draft Grade — Browns

The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Jack Kiser, the No. 179 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot.

Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
Cam Ward at No. 2 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
They paid sticker price for Jack Sawyer in pick 33, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Kaleb Johnson at pick No. 67 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
They barely believed it either: Omarr Norman-Lott still on the board at the 94th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick104 Rnd4 Charles Grant
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Charles Grant at pick 104. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179 Rnd6 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at the 179th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192 Rnd6 Malachi Moore
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick200 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in No. 200 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick216 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams at Round 6, Pick 40 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
You do not let a linebacker like Jack Kiser reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
