Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A franchise passer in Ward headlines a B weekend for the Browns.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Schwesinger at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
By-the-book stuff, Cam Ward at the 2nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick33 Rnd2 Shemar Stewart
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Shemar Stewart in slot 33, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 67, where Marcus Mbow graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at No. 94 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick104 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
They read the board right and Darius Alexander was the payoff at the 104th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick152 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Good price on Pat Bryant in Round 5, Pick 14, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick192 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 200 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick255 Rnd7 Mac McWilliams
Value with a capital V on Mac McWilliams in No. 255, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
