Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a B for the Browns.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Browns committed. Cam Ward is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Muhammad steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Dike pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In slot 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slipping to Round 2, Pick 1 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Nice patience on TreVeyon Henderson, who had no business lasting to pick 67. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94 Rnd3 Chimere Dike
They paid a round early for Chimere Dike in No. 94, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
They let Darius Alexander come to them and pounced at pick No. 104. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick179 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
A tidy bit of business in the 179th pick, where Chase Lundt graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Quincy Riley in the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
By-the-book stuff, KeAndre Lambert-Smith at the 200th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
A reach for Carson Vinson in Round 6, Pick 40; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
