Draft Grade — Browns

The Browns let Washington fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. A'Mauri Washington, the No. 59 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 3 slot.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need World to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In No. 22 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese slid further than he should have, and the 27th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick39 Rnd2 Isaiah World
They liked Isaiah World enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 39. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at pick No. 56. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70 Rnd3 Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams is a better player than Round 3, Pick 6 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, A'Mauri Washington in slot 87, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the 107th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick140 Rnd5 Blake Miller
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Blake Miller in the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in Round 5, Pick 6 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick148 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at pick No. 148 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick210 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in pick 210 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee at slot 248 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
