Templar DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Browns a B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Browns started one anyway for Eric Gregory, 86 picks ahead of schedule. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Johnson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In No. 2 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Value said wait; Harold Fannin Jr. in the 33rd pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
Taking Kaleb Johnson in pick 67 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Milroe. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
Value with a capital V on Danny Stutsman in the 104th overall pick, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick179
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at slot 179 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick192
Rnd6
R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens in Round 6, Pick 16 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Brandon Adams
A wild overpay on Brandon Adams in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216
Rnd6
Eric Gregory
They reached into another round for Eric Gregory, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick255
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
The board had cheaper options than Torricelli Simpkins III at No. 255, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
