Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Rosemy-Jacksaint should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint had no business being available in pick No. 238, and the Bengals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will need Spann-Ford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Byron Murphy II. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick49 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims in Round 2, Pick 17 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
No edge and no loss on Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 80; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
A quiet steal in the 97th pick: Calen Bullock for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick115 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in slot 115 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick149 Rnd5 Isaiah Davis
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Davis in pick 149, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick194 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
A tidy little value on Tanor Bortolini in No. 194, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick214 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
They will replay Cornelius Johnson at the 214th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick224 Rnd7 Brevyn Spann-Ford
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brevyn Spann-Ford well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jalen Sundell
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalen Sundell a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Somehow Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was still sitting there in the 238th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
