Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueC NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA+
The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The 49ers took Jaylin Noel at the Round 6 slot, roughly 94 spots before his name belonged.

However the rest shakes out, Watts at that price is a win they earned. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 Nic Scourton
Nic Scourton at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick48 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
A real head-scratcher, Aireontae Ersery in the 48th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at pick 79 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick101 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker at the 101st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115 Rnd4 Tyler Warren
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach pick No. 115 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd5 Bryce Foster
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Foster at slot 169, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jaylin Noel
Value said wait; Jaylin Noel in the 192nd overall pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249 Rnd7 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at pick No. 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
