G MAN DRAFTING FOR THESteelers

Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

Manning is the plan now, and the Steelers grade out a D. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Dillon Thieneman slide 103 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Put together, it is a D.
They will need Morris to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Arch Manning gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Arch Manning
In the 4th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor in Round 2, Pick 14 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick78
Rnd3
Matayo Uiagalelei
You do not let an edge rusher like Matayo Uiagalelei reach the 78th pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114
Rnd4
Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills in No. 114 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick133
Rnd4
Dillon Thieneman
Somehow Dillon Thieneman was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 31, and they pounced on premier safety value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
A quiet steal in pick 153: Davison Igbinosun for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176
Rnd5
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in the 176th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick192
Rnd6
J.Michael Sturdivant
No drama and no debate, J.Michael Sturdivant went about where he belonged in slot 192. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick211
Rnd6
Micah Morris
They left a pile of value on the table to take Micah Morris this early at the Round 6 slot. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick227
Rnd7
James Williams
They paid sticker price for James Williams in pick No. 227, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
